PT. 3 SUMMER GARDEN MUST HAVES: OUTDOOR KITCHEN

Summer break is almost over! Everyone is getting together for those time-honored backyard BBQs, enjoying those last few lazy days by the pool and creating memories to hold them over in the winter months. That’s how the vision of this design came to be.

The young couple that owns this home wanted an outdoor space for entertaining friends and having fun. Their large yard already accommodates their small children and critters – bunnies, chickens and dogs (oh my!).

The farm table was an integral piece that guided the layout so the children can eat lunch while looking out at the half-Olympic sized pool. We configured the grill and sink as a separate station and the flanking kitchen and bar area aligned in a symmetrical relationship.

Upon stepping down from the summer kitchen, you’ll notice you approach a sun deck before reaching the pool. Safety features on the pool gate are conspicuously hidden by raising the gates. Pool safety, especially with young child in the home, is a key element, but that doesn’t mean it has to show. Our design was able to camouflage the obtrusiveness of the pool locks, allowing us to create a safe, yet seamless, feature.
